Sailing in Crown Boats is a great way to learn to sail at Sea Cadets. There are usually 3 to 5 Cadets in a boat and they all have different roles to play in sailing the boat.
Sailing (Feva Yachts)
Feva Yachts are a fun way to sail for more experienced Sea Cadets. These small yachts are usually crewed by 2 Cadets and when the wind gets up, you really can fly along the water!
Team Building Exercises
Teamwork is one of the core values taught at Sea Cadets and at TS Gambia everything we do has an element of teamwork involved in it.
At TS Gambia we are often involved in activities with other units, whether that being a camp in Auckland or going on a road trip to a camp at places such as Whangarei or Tauranga.
Camps are always great fun and the Cadets get to participate in many varied activities such as the ones detailed on this page or other once in a lifetime opportunities.
Once Sea Cadets have some experience, they may be eligible to take part in some Boating Courses which include the Coastguard Day Skipper’s qualification and the Coxswain’s Course.
Local Unit and Combined National Unit Competitions
Sea Cadets compete in both Northern Area and National Competitions against other Sea Cadet Units.
These competitions test the skills and training of the team from each unit. Activities and skills that Sea Cadets learn throughout the year are put to the test at these competitions.
